Someone has been plotting against the Master Inquisitors! Nikolaï, with the aid of four other Master Inquisitors, tries to discover who that ‘someone’ is… It is a delicate investigation, which must be led quickly, because even though the Inquisition is the visible target, Nikolaï dreads an attack against the monarchs, Aquilon and Assynia. The motive of the conspirators is obvious - the return of magic!
